WHAT IS A NON-FUNGIBLE TOKEN (NFT)?
Investopedia states that the non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are cryptographic assets on a blockchain with unique identification codes and metadata that distinguish them from each other. Unlike cryptocurrencies, they cannot be traded or exchanged at equivalency. This differs from fungible tokens like cryptocurrencies, which are identical to each other and, therefore, can serve as a medium for commercial transactions.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- NFTs are unique cryptographic tokens that exist on a blockchain and cannot be replicated.
- NFTs can represent real-world items like artwork and real estate.
- “Tokenizing” these real-world tangible assets makes buying, selling, and trading them more efficient while reducing the probability of fraud.
- NFTs can also function to represent individuals’ identities, property rights, and more.
Rauchenberger has chosen to sell her artworks as NFTs on the exclusive Snark.art platform.
The Snark.art platform bridges a gap between traditional and crypto art worlds. It works in collaboration with artists to create, distribute, and sell works that harness blockchain’s decentralized community, digital scarcity, and seemingly endless applications. A bridge between art and blockchain, Snark.art provides a unique perspective by creating accessibility and creative exchange between the two communities.
Snark.art is a technology laboratory exploring creative and commercial possibilities in art, which uses the power of blockchain to change the way art is made and collected. They want to push the boundaries of blockchain technology, while also introducing contemporary art to an entirely new audience.
They work with artists to create blockchain-based crypto art: it’s their vision, with an assist from their technology and community marketing. These one-of-a-kind digital art works are then offered to the public via our auction and sales platform.
It’s the chance to graduate from Cryptokitties into an entirely new type of art based on blockchain ideals of decentralized interaction.
Rauchenberger conceived three unique collections for the Snarkart platform: 'Metal Molden Collection', 'Purple Collection' and 'Yellow Collection'.Characterized by different techniques - digital video and photography - and by the use of different coloured filters, each collection is a contemporary interpretation of the artworks of the past and of the mythological stories of the protagonists represented.
MOLTEN METAL COLLECTION
This collection includes three colour filtered video representing ancient sculptures located in Florence: Majestic Neptune and Supplicating in Vain. Through digital technologies, such as the superimposition of coloured filters and the use of solarisation- a technique that consists in the inversion or tonal change of an image-, the white marble is transformed into a molten metal effect. The colour filter selected is a vintage hazelnut.
Rauchenberger’s works represent the scene from another perspective exalting the dramatic gestures and the emotions of the subject represented. The majestic marble figures are not represented in a static way but thee bodies appear to be made of a fluid moving matter.
PURPLE COLLECTION
This collection includes two colour filtered photographies representing ancient statues located in Greece: The Woodcutter and Melancholic Paris.
Through digital technologies, such as the superimposition of coloured filters and the use of solarisation- a technique that consists in the inversion or tonal change of an image-, Rauchenberger transforms the white marble into an intense purple colour in order to accentuate the emotions of the statues and the contrast of the subjects represented with their surroundings.
YELLOW COLLECTION
This collection includes three colour filtered photographies representing ancient statue located in Greece: Contemptuous Athena, Young Apollo and Phrasikleia Kore.
